The Sonar High Aspect Front Wing Series is engineered for the highest speed and efficiency possible across a range of disciplines – from kite foiling to prone foil surfing. With this style of wing, you need minimal pump and power to generate glide. The shorter chord length defines the profile thickness, and with a thin profile comes reduced drag. The span gives you stability and a slightly longer radius turn than a lower aspect ratio wing of the same size. The wingtips are refined to ensure there is no ventilation when you tip breach, giving you the ability to crank tighter radius turns at higher speeds, without losing speed. The larger HA1450 is ideal for dock starts, pumping to connect wave after wave, coastal runners or stealing wakes. Downwinding: Ocean swells move faster in the open ocean – slower in shallow water or closer to the coast. The faster you move through the water, the more choice you have to choose a more efficient line. The smaller the wing, the less planing surface = less lift and higher stall speed. The HA Series Wings are designed for lighter / more experienced riders to foil in faster-moving ocean swells.
We are North
When the elements call to us it’s the ultimate seduction. We must go. This magnetic pull for freedom, for performance, for exhilaration – beats fear. We understand what it takes to commit to the unknown.
Engineered. Refined. Intuitive.
Nothing teaches design like nature. That’s why the North design process starts and finishes on the water. Every day we are inspired – and humbled – by nature’s engineering genius and her beautiful, intuitive simplicity. To that, we add cutting-edge technology and decades of expertise.
The people shaping our brand are first and foremost a team of riders. What absolutely unites us is a desire for a more intuitive, more natural and more powerful experience between water, wind and sky. Our passionate team constantly innovate and prioritise what is really important to the rider….
As a business so closely connected to the ocean and the elements, we find we have a responsibility to care for it and help to conserve our planet. Amidst other changes, our desire to reduce plastics and help the environment sees us using more sustainable materials and packaging.
The North brand started in 1957 when Olympic gold medallist and trained engineer, Lowell North, sought to change the world of sailing through precision technology. North pioneered advanced computer modelling in the design and manufacture processes.
North Kiteboarding and North Foiling are part of North Actionsports Group, owned by North Technology Group. Our Brand and Product Development team are based in New Zealand, home of the America’s Cup and an R&D playground exposed to wind and swell from all directions.
